Chapter 1 – Numbers to 100,000

Lesson 4 – Rounding Numbers to Tens

  • Practice rounding numbers like 17, 36, 51, 314, 628, 2852, 6342, 5558, 9821, and 36529 to the nearest ten.
  • Example: 36 → 40, 51 → 50.

Lesson 5 – Roman Numerals

  • Learn Roman numerals from I to C.
  • Practice table completion and matching exercises.
  • 10 = X, 20 = XX, 30 = XXX, 40 = XL, 50 = L, 60 = LX, 70 = LXX, 80 = LXXX, 90 = XC, 100 = C.

Chapter 2 – Multiplication and Division

Lesson 3 – Multiply by 1-Digit Number

  • Multiply small numbers mentally or by written method.
  • Example: 7 × 8 = 56.

Lesson 4 – Multiply by 2-Digit Number

  • Break down the number: e.g. 63 × 50 = 63 × 5 × 10 = 315 × 10 = 3150.
  • Practice using zero as placeholder when multiplying by 10, 100, or 1000.

Lesson 5 – Factors

Definition: A factor is a number that divides another number exactly.

Examples:

  • 5 is a factor of 20 because 5 × 4 = 20.
  • 7 is a factor of 35 because 7 × 5 = 35.

Common Factors Activity:

  • 8 and 12 → Factors of 8 = 1, 2, 4, 8; Factors of 12 = 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12 → Common = 1, 2, 4; HCF = 4.
  • 14 and 28 → Common factors = 1, 2, 7, 14; HCF = 14.

Chapter 3 – Fractions

  • Mixed Number: A combination of a whole number and a fraction (e.g. 2½).
  • Improper Fraction: Numerator larger than denominator (e.g. 7/4).
  • Conversion: 7/4 = 1¾ and 2¾ = 11/4.

Chapter 5 – Angles

  • Definition: An angle is formed when two lines meet at a point.
  • Measured in degrees (°).
  • Types: Acute (<90 obtuse="" right="">90° and <180 li="">
  • Use a protractor to measure given angles accurately.

Chapter 8 – Decimals I

  • Concepts: Tenths, Hundredths, and Thousandths.
  • Example: 0.3 = 3/10, 0.45 = 45/100.
  • Identify place value of digits in a decimal number.

Chapter 9 – Decimals II

  • Adding Decimals: Line up decimal points before addition.
  • Subtracting Decimals: Line up points and borrow if needed.
  • Example: 3.25 + 1.4 = 4.65; 5.00 – 2.37 = 2.63.

  • Fill in the blanks, true/false, and problem-solving tasks.
  • Word problems using multiplication and division.
