Lesson 5 – Factors
Definition: A factor is a number that divides another number exactly.
Examples:
- 5 is a factor of 20 because 5 × 4 = 20.
- 7 is a factor of 35 because 7 × 5 = 35.
Common Factors Activity:
- 8 and 12 → Factors of 8 = 1, 2, 4, 8; Factors of 12 = 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12 → Common = 1, 2, 4; HCF = 4.
- 14 and 28 → Common factors = 1, 2, 7, 14; HCF = 14.
Chapter 3 – Fractions
- Mixed Number: A combination of a whole number and a fraction (e.g. 2½).
- Improper Fraction: Numerator larger than denominator (e.g. 7/4).
- Conversion: 7/4 = 1¾ and 2¾ = 11/4.
Chapter 5 – Angles
- Definition: An angle is formed when two lines meet at a point.
- Measured in degrees (°).

- Use a protractor to measure given angles accurately.
Chapter 8 – Decimals I
- Concepts: Tenths, Hundredths, and Thousandths.
